It is officially summer! I can’t describe the feeling of relief that I experiencing now that the Spring semester is finished. Don’t get me wrong, I love St. Ed’s and how my classes challenge me, but I can definitely do without some of the stress. That is my problem though. I tend to try and do a lot and put all my energy into everything I do. That doesn’t always work out in a good way. Anyway, with the end of the semester, there are also a lot of St. Ed’s students who won’t be returning in the fall. To send them off in style, The Transitional Experiences Council organized Hilltop Send Off where graduates embarked in a Legacy Walk through the iconic red doors of the main building and ended with champagne, celebration, and a toast from President Martin. It was great to see all the graduates celebrate in their accomplishment. I actually snuck away with one of the engraved champagne flukes myself. They are really nice!
Here are some words to any St. Ed’s graduates who may be reading this:
Congratulations to all the 2015 graduates! You all deserve the degree you earned. St. Ed’s has taught you to think critically and to challenge everyday life. Your next steps may or may not be easy, but always know that you will be alright. The friends you’ve made over the years will be there to help you when you fall. Keep the bonds you made at St. Ed’s strong. From the wise words of Elle Woods, “You must always have faith in people. And most importantly, you must always have faith in yourself.” Trust in your instincts about what you want to do now. There will be times may seem too difficult to overcome, that you just want to give up. Don’t. If you made it through Capstone or your Senior Thesis, then you can do anything. No matter where you end up over the next few years, the Hilltop will always be your home. You are forever a Hilltopper. Now, go off into the world and do great things.
