I know everyone has their personal feelings about the Red Cup. Personally, I could care less about the whole debate. In terms of design, I think the red cup is classic and brilliant. It makes a statement without being obtrusive. The slight gradient was beautifully created (gradients are hard to make look good). The cup is also relatively a blank canvas for artists to make their mark on. This inspired the hashtag #redcupart. I've been wanting to partake in this challenge, but I always threw away my cup out of habit. Finally, I made a conscious effort to keep my cup.
I decided to use white paint as my medium. I chose paint because I don't use it enough and I thought it would be a good way to portray the light and fluid way a feather can be. I've always had a thing for feathers and the idea of flight. Throughout my entire life, me flying in my dreams has been a recurring theme. the idea of taking a leap and doing what seems to be the impossible is truly exciting. I hope that I will be brave enough to take an unimaginable leap one day. I believe that we are all able to do great things.
