There are many ways to meet people and make connections through online resources. For those looking for a romantic connection and significant others, there are a myriad of dating apps and websites. Those looking to build professional connections, there is LinkedIn and the like. Then, for those looking for a community over competition, there is The Rising Tide Society. I’ve heard about the Rising Tide Society while I was in college, but it was not until after graduating and starting my professional career journey, that I really looked into the online community. The Rising Tide Society follows the mantra of community over competition and provides an online source for educating creative entrepreneurs. I joined The Rising Tide Facebook group in August 2016. There, I’ve been able to connect with other creatives - asking questions, providing feedback, and learning a thing or two about photography or graphic design.
One day, I saw a comment on a thread asking for collaborators as she prepared to launch a new blog in 2017. I replied to Rachel Fischer’s comment letting her know that I was interested in collaborating. From there, we started messaging each other. Rachel is based in Arizona, and I live in Texas. However, distance didn’t stop us from working with each other to create The Daily Bustle. The Daily Bustle is a blog for on-the-go women; it provides articles related to fashion, the hustle, and interviews with creatives.
I started to work on her logo and branding. As always, I first created a mood board. I aimed to create a feeling of professionalism, modernism, but also a little femininity. The logo iterations I then worked on used the fonts Fengardo Neue Regular and Blingtastic Script. The logo we landed on was one that utilized a partial square. Daily extends outside of the box, reminding us to spend moments outside of our box. We then brought a crown as an element for the favicon and social media usage from a different logo iteration. The crown seems fitting since the women this blog is for are all queens.
