Aviation Themed Maternity | Georgetown, Texas

I made it to Georgetown; Georgetown, Texas, that is. In September, I signed up to be one of the photographers during a maternity styled shoot. My goal was to meet other photographers and learn maternity by watching them. I’m happy to say that I met those goals!

The drive up to Georgetown was a long one. I had just eaten a hefty lunch at Hoovers with my friend Zach. My belly was full of chicken and waffles, and I felt a food coma coming on. Luckily, I made it to a Starbucks in Georgetown for coffee before making my way to Genesis Flight Academy. Genesis Flight Academy is nestled on the outskirts of a neighborhood. I had to actually drive through a neighborhood, passing children playing in the front yard to get to the school. Upon arriving, I met the first photographer, Bee Serrata of Busy Bee Studio. We divulged to each other how neither of us have done maternity before and that’s why we both signed up for this styled shoot: the learn. We kept our fingers crossed that the last photographer joining us knew more about maternity. Luck had us because Melissa Sepilveda de Che of Melissa Che Imagery shoots maternity. Bee and I were more than happy for her to take lead and position our couple.

Our couple for the evening were Hannah and Ross. Hannah and Ross met while in theology school where Hannah was working and Ross was in school to become a pastor. Ross is getting ready to plant a new church, but the couple also has a marketing business where they work with small businesses owners to get their businesses out there. Ross and Hannah took piloting classes at Genesis Flight Academy, but neither of them have their pilot license yet. They passed the Ground Test, but now they just have to do the Flight Test. That goal might need to wait for a bit as Hannah and Rose get ready to welcome the new member of their family. They’re decorating Baby Oliver’s nursery aviation themed, so these photos were perfectly set up for him.

We had mostly full range of the planes and flight school. There were a couple planes in the hangar that we couldn’t take photos near, but there were plenty of others that we worked with. One of the planes, actually the plane we used the most, was the plane that Hannah and Ross first flew up in for one of their lessons. We didn’t realize it until later on, and this fact added to the specialness of this shoot!

I would love to know what you think about this session! Feel free to leave your comments below.
