Spring in Austin: it’s a beautiful time of year. I met Nathalie and Jordan for bluebonnet couple portraits at St. Edward’s University. St. Edward’s is home to Nathalie and I, and we met four years ago when we both attended a week-long retreat called LeaderShape. Over the following three years, Nathalie and I both worked in Student Life (however in different offices) and became familiar with one another with saying hi and talking whenever we saw the other. Nathalie knew of my photography goals, and she has always been so supportive of me and my ambitions. She even recommended me to be the photographer for Kody and Dinah’s wedding.
In March 2017, I returned the support and took photos of her and her boyfriend Jordan. We were originally supposed to take the photos weeks before the bluebonnets bloomed, but we got rained out. Texas had an unseasonably warm Winter and rainy February and March. These factors contributed to an early bluebonnet blossom. While during that day, I thought the rain was a curse, it ended up being a blessing; we rescheduled for a bluebonnet session! Our needing to reschedule was perfect timing because the new shoot date was days before their two year anniversary. We agreed to our bluebonnet shoot at St. Edward’s because it’s home to both of us, and acclaimed to be one of the best places in Austin to see bluebonnets. The usual place for bluebonnets wasn't as in full bloom as past years, but we were able to make it work!
