Boots and Bluebonnets | Enamel Pin

From August to September 2017, Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc along the coast of Texas. During this time, people from across Texas as well as neighboring states reached out to help Houston and the surrounding cities survive the massive flooding that lasted for weeks. Harvey is one of the most destructive storms to hit the United States. That December, the Austin Chapter of Fresh 2 Design organized an enamel pin show to raise money that would be donated to organizations helping Harvey victims. The theme for the show was “Texas Strong” and the pin had to embody Texas. Being a native Texan and with family living in Houston, I knew I had to submit an entry. I designed a pin with bluebonnets (the state flower) inside a cowboy boot. My pin was chosen to be part of the show along with twenty other designers!
