Favianna M. | SEU Class of 2018
One of my favorite things about St. Edward’s University is that part of their mission is to provide students an education that is global and focuses on social justice. This mission is woven into classes - no matter the major. Favianna was a psychology major that had her Hilltop home, but also started working at the Texas State Capitol early on in her degree program: during her sophomore year! Since the Hilltop and the Capitol played a huge part in her journey, we went to both places for her graduate shoot.
We started off at St. Edward’s in front of Main Building for some classic grad photos - the kind that mark this exact moment with a cap and gown, the kind that will make your mom tear up. Before we left campus for the Capitol, Favianna expertly popped a bottle of champagne! I was very impressed how she yanked off the cork to achieve a perfect burst of foam.
At the Capitol, we got some super cute photos of her outside with her fur child, Baxter. Y’all, I LOVE it when clients bring their dogs for photos! It’s fun for me because I get to play with a dog even for just a minute. Unfortunately, dogs aren’t allowed in the Capitol, so that was the end of Baxter’s camera time. We left him outside with Favianna’s friend as Favianna and I went inside the Capitol to take photos of her in some of her favorite places. One of her favorite places is her office where she has a beautiful view of downtown. It was a challenge to take photos with the sort of dim light we were working with, but we walked away with some beautiful results! It was so much fun to have a special escort to show me around the Capitol.
