Every year there is a wonderful event at St. Edward’s called Hillfest that acts as a marker as the start of the school year (even though classes started two weeks prior). It was definitely my favorite event as a student, and as an alumna, I still love it. It always changes a little bit each year depending on the students that run the event, the budget, and what people are loving. This year, there was a very popular ferris wheel, mechanical swings, rock climbing wall, and food trucks. Topper made a special appearance giving hugs and high fives to students and also rode the ferris wheel! There was of course dancing which started to really happen as the evening went on. There was also a spirit contest where the person dressed in the most spirited blue and yellow (St. Ed’s colors) got a prize. The guy that one definitely deserves it - he’s the one with the balloon headpiece.
At the end of the night, Hillfest ended with a bang - the annual fireworks show went off! Everyone sat in front of Main Building to watch the fireworks display.
I always love coming back to the Hilltop to photograph my annual grads, but it was extra special to come back and photograph one of my favorite traditions!
A huge thank you goes to the University Programming Board who put on this amazing tradition!
