I love weddings! I do believe weddings are so special and magical; bearing witness to two people making a covenant is one of the most powerful forces in this world. I believe the love between two people can withstand all the craziness that comes with planning a wedding - weddings are stressful.
So, whenever I do photograph a wedding, I treat the day and the couple like they’re my friends with doing whatever I can to make the day smooth. Working with Megan and Casey on their wedding day had a few struggles leading up to it; Megan started gathering her vendors a few months before her wedding day, and she made it happen. All of her vendors came through for her wedding day, including me. Luckily, they booked One Eleven East years in advance, so they had their venue! I love One Eleven East, by the way! It's a beautiful indoor open space with gorgeous white painted brick walls, and it's so versatile for what you need it for.
I walked into One Eleven East in Hutto for the Thursday Wedding. Candace, Meagan’s now sister-in-law, was there helping to get the place all set up and ready. Candace was a saving grace during this wedding because she kept everything on track. Industry friends preach how the photographer is not only the photographer at a wedding; the wedding photographer may also act as Day of Coordinator. However, Candace easily took over that job and helped make sure we stayed relatively on schedule. As I bounced around the venue getting the lay of the land, my co-shooter, Allie Yackel of Veils and Tails photography came. Y’all, Allie is amazing. She and I have differing philosophies when it comes to photography, but we balance each other out so well. She was also the calming presence that I needed. Before everyone arrived at the venue, she and I sat in the bridal suite, and she prayed for us. She prayed for the wedding, our work, the couple, all of it. Immediately, it felt like all the anxiety that was building up inside me was gone.
I believe it’s because we gave it up to God that the day went so well. From when everyone arrived to finish getting ready to the sparkler send-off, this wedding day went so smooth. The only hiccup that occured was how a strand of beads fell from Meagan’s dress. Meagan was really relaxed about the very minor wardrobe malfunction. We were able to fix the stand long enough for her to do their first look and photos!
The ceremony and reception were a breeze to photograph. I was even able to make polite conversation with the bartender, and then I got him to let me take a fun photo of Meagan and her bridesmaids behind the bar! Of course we followed the law and didn’t do anything illegal, but it was such a fun shot!
