I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS
The Christmas season is truly my favorite time of year. I love how everyone seems to be full of joy and the giving spirit is in people’s hearts. It’s a hectic, but fun, time between all the parties, events, and gatherings.
I was able to experience all the different joyous occasions during this holiday season between spending time with my family for Christmas, spending a short trip in LA with my sister (check out that story!), and ending the year with a New Years Eve wedding.
Nicki Bailey and Jared Chandler were married on December 31st, 2017 at St. John Vianney in Round Rock. It was a small wedding with close family and friends in attendance. Where everyone was loving on one another. Nicki and Jared even had a close relationship with their priest and had fun chatting and joking before the ceremony. Opting out of a formal reception, I was asked to take photos of only the ceremony.
One perk of having a holiday wedding is that a church is usually already decorated. St. John Vianney was gorgeously decked with poinsettias, greenery, and gold trimmings. It looked regal and classic. Since the church was so beautifully decorated, Nicki and Jared didn’t have to pay for any decorations. They hired a florist for their bouquets and boutonnieres, but besides that, the church was already filled with florals.
Another perk is that most people have a good portion of the time between Christmas and New Years off. Nicki and Jared had a small and intimate ceremony, but since their wedding took place on New Years Eve, it was easier for their guests to travel since, generally, they had New Years Day off.
A last perk, and my personal favorite, is that the two were able to start the New Year as a married couple. There’s something undoubtedly special about being able to ring in the new year with your new spouse. New Years always marks a season of new beginnings and new chances. For Nicki and Jared, it marked the start of their marriage. When I asked Nicki on how she felt about having her wedding on New Years Eve and starting the new year as a married couple, she said that she wouldn’t be doing this if he wasn’t her best friend.
