Rachel K. | SEU Class of 2018

Can more people bring their dogs to sessions? When Rachel asked if she could bring her fur child, Stella, for her graduation shoot, I gave an excited “yes” and a big metaphorical thumbs up. Rachel and I met at a Starbucks, and I knew we would get along when I saw that she ordered a Venti Macchiato. Anyone who loves coffee is a friend of mine! And she did not disappoint on her session date. For our evening shoot, she walked up with a venti as well - plus Stella, her boyfriend, and two of her best friends. She was surrounded by her entourage.

Rachel requested we shoot somewhere with a lot of trees and greenery. Thus, we went to a part of campus I’ve never been to - the wetland. On St. Edward’s University there’s a small ecosystem that consists of an overgrown pond, plants, trees, and all the such. Honestly, I can’t tell you what its purpose is. Rachel and her friends told a story of going there for their freshman level science class to study the leeches in the pond; they were the non-blood sucking type. I regret not exploring that part of campus more often because it’s so pretty with the large trees and greenery surrounding the little pond.

Rachel graduated from St. Edward’s with a bachelor’s in biology. She will attend med school at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine to pursue her dreams to be a Naval Physician.
